So great to meet all of our new Mindfulness Course members this evening, we have a lovely group of individuals to share a safe, warm and friendly space with over the next eight weeks or so.
Each person has their own reasons for coming to a Mindfulness eight week course, for some it may be dealing with chronic pain everyday or maybe just to be able to feel the joy in life once again because it seems the busyness of life with it's responsibilities has drained all the fun, mystery and aliveness out of our daily experience.
For other's it may be because anxious thoughts seem like they are becoming a normal way of life and it is felt directly in the body which affects the way we feel and interact in the world each day and with the people around us.
For some a lot of time spent in our heads going over the past ruminating about all the stuff that should or shouldn't have happened fills our present moment experience with regret and sadness that we feel a torrent of unpleasant feelings that may alter the way we see the world and our behaviour.
Whatever the reasons, we are all connected and share the same human experiences of this amazing and busy mind of ours. The whole curriculum in this eight week mindfulness training is around noticing the habits and patterns of our own minds that can shape and alter our lived experience if we allow it to run our lives. We learn to pay more attention to the present moment by training the mind in a particular way, on purpose to see that thoughts are just thoughts, they are not who we are and if left alone, we make space for something else to come in, an alert presence, awareness, something that has always been there but dampened down by all the noise and busyness in our heads.
Training in Mindfulness helps us to get reacquainted with 'being' comfortable with stillness, to allow our minds to settle, to feel grounded, rested, solid, stable and to feel a new way of being.
