About the Event
Mindfulness & Mental Wellbeing Programme (12-15 years)
We offer a mental wellbeing service to support young people age 12-25 years.
This mindfulness, compassion and wellbeing programme is designed for teenagers aged 12-15 years. The course aims to enhance each young person's mental, emotional, physical health and wholeness to live a healthier, happier, more productive and meaningful life.
The programme runs for one hour every Tuesday evening at 7.30pm for eight weeks at The Welbeing Centre in a supportive and safe environment within a small and friendly group.
Our Mindfulness Course is a preventative approach that empowers young adults to develop a greater awareness and understanding of themselves, to develop good mental wellbeing skills and to apply these practical and helpful skills in everyday life.
This course offers a valuable educational resource to understand more about the nature of the mind and to develop the capacity for mindful non-judgmental awareness of thoughts, feelings and behaviour.
Never has it been so important as it is now for young people to be able to freely access training programmes to increase self-awareness, resilience, confidence and self-esteem to improve and manage their own wellbeing.
This course has been fully funded by the Scottish Government.
What Young People Say They've Learned:
"I have learned what mindfulness is and how it can help me when I'm feeling stressed or worried." - age 13 years.
"It has helped me to stay calm in certain situations" - age 15 years.
"The course has helped me to focus more and notice thoughts but not to let them take over, because I used to find it very difficult to focus and to notice what my mind was actually doing." - age 15 years.
The course is planned to take place at The Wellbeing Centre, 31 Gavinton Street, Muirend, G44 3EF.
