Heart-Mind-Body - Biofeedback Technology Wellbeing Training Programme (12-15 years)

This programme has been funded by a grant from the Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership.

The mindfulness, compassion and heart-brain coherence wellbeing programme is designed to help and support teenagers aged 12-15 years who are experiencing difficulties with anxiety, stress, emotional dysregulation, overwhelm or depression.

The programme aims to provide an early intervention and preventative approach to help teenagers develop greater self-awareness and to explore and develop good mental wellbeing skills using science-proven biofeedback coherence technology. This technology will analyze and observe how emotional states are affecting the nervous system in real time and with practice. This enables young people with a unique window to understand the quality of communication between their heart, mind, brain and body which directly impacts how they think, feel and behave.

Knowledge and experiential training will enable young people to create an inner shift and balance to improve and self-manage their own mental health and wellbeing with increased self-awareness, confidence, compassion, self-control and self-esteem.

This course offers a valuable educational resource to understand more about the nature of the mind and to develop the capacity for mindful non-judgmental awareness of thoughts, feelings and behaviour. The course focuses on empowering young people by developing their ability to improve self-awareness, emotional and behavioural regulation, reduce anxiety, stress and overwhelm and increase overall health and wellbeing.

The programme runs every Monday evening at 6.00-7.15pm for seven weeks from Monday 6th February - 27th March (excluding Monday 13th February, spring term week) at The Wellbeing Centre in a supportive and safe environment within a small and friendly group. Due to the nature and costly resources provided to train teenagers during the programme delivery, parents are required to ensure their child(ren) are able to attend all 7 sessions to benefit from the full programme of support and attend a parent/carer introduction session (see details below).

The course is planned to take place at The Wellbeing Centre, 31 Gavinton Street, Muirend, G44 3EF.

To ensure the programme is fully accessible, digital technology and appropriate travel costs will be provided for those who require additional support to attend and benefit from the eight week wellbeing programme.
